BOOKINGS

We only accept pre-booked appointments through the online booking system. This is to help create a safe and quiet space for everybody, we appreciate your co-operation.

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

Make sure you are comfortable – Wear loose fitting clothes, don’t eat a huge meal just before your appointment.

If you have time, do some gentle stretches before hand. This is not essential, but it really helps.

Drink plenty of water before and after your massage. Don’t forget to go to the loo prior to your treatment. Avoid drinking alcohol before your treatment. We will not massage you if you are intoxicated.

Along the way you’ll be asked about the pressure used, if you’re comfy and if you’re warm enough in the treatment room. Please remember you can speak up anytime if anything changes.

Feel free to ask questions at any time, before during and after your treatment.

ARRIVAL AT THE SPACE

Location - Nineties Boxing Massage Room.

Wait at reception for your therapist Philippa to come and collect you, please do not knock on the door.

Please pop your phone on silent, to ensure that you get the best out of your time.

BEGINNING YOUR TREATMENT

We will talk about: Your information form and your health. Areas of the body you wish to concentrate on or avoid, areas of tension.

We’ll take you through your completed form and check-in with how your body is feeling.

We strive to create a restful environment with music chosen to enhance and not overwhelm your experience. NO WHALE MUSIC here, it’s just not our bag.

Our treatments do use oils, please let us know prior to your treatment if you have any allergies or concerns.

DURING YOUR TREATMENT

State of undress? Ideally down to your underwear, beneath a cosy sheet. But if you don’t feel comfortable with that, we can discuss options before your treatment.

While you’ll be asked about the pressure used early on in the massage, please don’t wait until then if something doesn’t feel right. We try not to pester you with this question too often during a treatment, so let us know at any point.

People may feel anxious about the ‘right’ way to experience a massage, their minds race and they aren’t able to relax in the way they feel they should. This is completely natural, concentrating on the music playing helps or counting to ten with your in and outwards breaths does the trick. But sometimes your mind just needs to be busy, especially if you don’t have much time to yourself. As the massage progresses, these thoughts should hopefully quieten down.

Sometimes, people feel obliged to talk during a treatment. Don’t. This is your time to relax, there is no need to make polite conversation. Often times asking questions is a way of avoiding time to yourself, to be quiet and reflect. Just rest.

FOLLOWING YOUR TREATMENT

You will be left to take a moment, and to change back into your clothes. (sit up slowly, you may be sleepy or a little woozy)

Drink lots of water for the rest of the day.

If you are consuming alcohol later please be aware it may well affect you differently to normal.
